Hand made in Ghana, West Africa, this Talking Drum is made of natural wood and authentic goat skin heads. Played with a mallet (included). The talking drum originated in Nigeria – historically, talking drum masters sent messages, held conversations, and talked to the spirits with the hourglass-shaped drum. Squeezing the drum or pulling its strings are two of the many techniques used to produce the talking drum’s characteristic rhythms and melodies. This drum is a great size for both children and adults at 7″ (w) x 18″ (h). Since this instrument is hand made with natural materials, no two will look or sound exactly alike.
